Spring Term- Castles and Dragons
Our current topic is all about castles! We will be learning about the parts of a castle and why these were important for defence. We will be finding out about the life of a Lord or King and how they would have lived in Medieval times. We will also be finding out about some local Cornish castles. In the second half of the spring term the focus will shift to learning about mythical dragons and brave knights.
We had the most fantastic day at St Mawes Castle, where we spotted lots of amazing features of the castle using our I Spy sheets. We also had a visit from Sir Hugo the Heroic last week. He helped us to find our missing dragon egg after it had been stolen by his arch-rival Sir Simon the Sly! See below for lots of lovely pictures of both days.
Our Year 1 curriculum is designed to make the transition from Foundation to Key Stage 1 as smooth as possible for the children through creative and practical activities that will capture their imaginations.
