Who are the PTA?

The St Newlyn East P.T.A.

With the school year now in full swing, it is once again proving to be another busy one for the P.T.A. at St Newlyn East Learning Academy.  The P.T.A. (Parent Teacher Association) is made up from a voluntary group of parents and carers with children currently in the academy.  Anyone is welcome to come along and join in at our meetings which are usually held every half term throughout the school year.  All of the monies that the P.T.A. raises gets put back into the academy to provide valuable funding as required, and in the past has included purchases of equipment and financial assistance with special trips including Ice Skating Trips to Eden, Royal Cornwall Show, transport costs to school camp, books from Father Christmas and the Year 6 leavers hoodies – to name just a few from last year alone.

Positions on our Committee for this Academic School Year have been filled as follows:

Chair                    Nicola Chambers

Treasurer            Sara Foster/ Helen Flood

We have run some fantastic well supported fund raising events including ‘the Great Newlyn Bake Off’,    ‘Spooky Disco’, Christmas Fayre, Class Christmas Parties, Valentines Disco, Summer Fayre, Play Days and our infamous cakes sales.  However, we are always on the ‘look out’ for fresh ideas and new faces to join our current  team – whether It’s selling raffle tickets, manning a stall, or baking cakes  – any time that you can spare would  be a valuable asset  to enable us to continue to run these fundraising events.

Want to get involved? Please feel free to pop along to our next meeting  - keep an eye out for future dates and events on the school newsletter.
